Danske Bank Women’s Premiership champions Glentoran Women bowed out of this season’s Champions League with defeat against Birkirkara.
Veteran Glens star Kelly Bailie had given the East Belfast side a first half lead – nine years after he scored against the same opponents in European competition.
However, the Maltese league champions turned the game on its head after the break with goals from Raina Giusti and Gabriella Zahra earning them a 2-1 triumph.
This was a third-placed playoff game after Glentoran had been edged out in a penalty shootout against Romanian champions Olimpia Cluj on Thursday following a goalless draw.
