In a perhaps unexpected turn of events both leaders Newry City and second placed Annagh United fell to defeats in another weekend of Lough 41 Championship action.
Newry, with a four point cushion at the top of the table, went down by two goals at home to Loughgall. Andrew Hoey fired the Villagers in front in the first half before Caolan McAleer scored direct from a free-kick around the hour mark.
But Annagh were unable to take advantage after being undone by Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park. Patrick Ferry was largely responsible for Annagh's downfall with a four-goal haul - two in each half - while John Edgar also weighed in with a goal early in the second half. Annagh responded through Stephen Murray and Adam Carroll but it wasn't enough to avoid what was a heavy defeat.
HW Welders remain in third spot after coming from two goals down to earn a point away to Dergview. Matthew Kirk and Mikhail Kennedy had given the home side a commanding lead after just half-an-hour but goals from Scott McMillan and Jake Corbett saw the Welders hit back early in the second half.
Institute picked up a big three points with victory over Queen's University at the Brandywell. Mark McFadden opened the scoring on 12 minutes but goals from Leon Bonnes and Ronan Young put the Students in front by the break. However, Brendan McLaughlin and Jamie Dunne both found the net either side of the hour mark to ultimately help 'Stute to the win.
Elsewhere, Dundela just needed a 79th minute Eoin Kane strike to get past Knockbreda at Wilgar Park while, on Friday night, Benny Igiehon bagged the only goal as Ards won away to Ballyclare Comrades.
