Newry City need to wait a little longer to mathematically clinch the Lough 41 Championship title after defeat to Ballinamallard United coupled with Annagh United's victory over HW Welders.

Darren Mullen's side hold a three-point advantage over Annagh going into the final game of the season but possess a vastly superior goal difference.

Newry could have been crowned champions with a point at Ferney Park, and they looked like doing just that only for BJ Banda to pop up four minutes from time to slot home from the spot and secure the win for the Mallards.

Annagh have most likely secured the promotion play-off place after beating HW Welders by the odd goal in three at the Blanchflower Stadium. Stephen Murray edged United in front after half-an-hour with Jake Corbett levelling not long after that but Niall Henderson struck the winner on 72 minutes.

Loughgall, in third, slipped to a home defeat to Dergview with the only goal of the game coming through Matthew Kirk nine minutes from time.

Dundela hit four goals past Institute at Wilgar Park with Eoin Kane (2), Kyle Owens and Rhys Annett all finding the net whilst Jamie Dunne grabbed 'Stute's consolation.

Knockbreda hold the upper hand in the battle to avoid the drop after goals from Max Greer and Dylan Sloan saw them defeat Ards at Breda Park.

That leaves 'Breda three points clear of bottom club Queen's University going into the final game as the Students twice surrendered the lead at home to Ballyclare Comrades.
