Kenny Shiels has selected 13 players from the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership for Northern Ireland’s upcoming Women’s World Cup qualifiers this month.
Over half of the 23-player squad will be made up of players representing the NI Football League as Northern Ireland continue their quest to qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup with a tough double header against England at Wembley (23 October) and Austria at home (26 October).
Women’s Premiership champions Glentoran Women are the most represented club with six stars called up following the East Belfast club’s fine end to the 2021 campaign, these include Nadene Caldwell, Chloe McCarron, Caragh Hamilton, Kerry Beattie, Lauren Wade and a recall for midfielder Joely Andrews.
North Belfast clubs Cliftonville Ladies have four players (Kelsie Burrows, Marissa Callaghan, Louise McDaniel and Kirsty McGuinness) and Crusaders Strikers have three (Maddy Harvey Clifford, Julie Nelson and Emily Wilson) called up into the squad.
