League leaders Cliftonville slipped to a first defeat of the campaign away to Ballymena United, Coleraine moved up to third spot with a home win over Warrenpoint Town and Portadown twice came from behind to hold Glentoran at The Oval.
The Reds still hold a two point lead at the top of the table despite succumbing to a solitary goal at The Showgrounds. Kenneth Kane grabbed the winner for the Sky Blues with just over half-an-hour on the clock after running onto a Jude Winchester ball to finish past Declan Dunne.
Matthew Shevlin scored both goals as the Bannsiders defeated bottom of the table Warrenpoint Town on the Ballycastle Road.
The on form striker bagged the opener as early as the sixth minute after Aaron Traynor delivered a perfect pass for him to lift the ball over keeper Conor Mitchell and into the net. And he knocked home his second of the afternoon seven minutes after the break with a back post finish after Friel and Conor McKendry combined to create the opening.
Meanwhile, at The Oval, Portadown ended the game with ten-men but came away with a share of the spoils against Glentoran.
The Glens edged in front on 12 minutes courtesy of Conor McMenamin's finish into the bottom corner following a neat passing move but the Ports levelled just before the break after Stephen Teggart did well to send over a corner for Michael Ruddy to nod home his first goal for the club.
However, Glentoran regained the lead on 69 minutes. Portadown defender Adam McCallum conceded a penalty for handling the ball on the line - and was also sent-off for the offence - with Jay Donnelly holding his nerve to step up and convert the spot-kick into the bottom corner.
But the ten-men refused to let their heads drop and duly equalised for a second time with nine minutes left. Keeper Jethren Barr sent forward a free-kick from just inside his own half straight into the area for Lee Bonis to head past the advancing Ross Glendinning.
On Friday night Dungannon Swifts kicked the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Carrick Rangers at Stangmore Park.
Ryan Mayse scored both goals, the first on 14 minutes when he applied the finishing touch to a counter-attack before doubling up late in the game after racing onto a Joe McCready through ball.
