Cliftonville Ladies star Kirsty McGuinness scored a stunning hat-trick in Northern Ireland’s World Cup Qualifying rout against North Macedonia.
There was also a first international goal for Kerry Beattie of Glentoran Women as Northern Ireland followed up from the Women’s World Cup Qualifying win last week in Skopje.
Top scorer in the 2021 Danske Bank Women’s Premiership, Beattie bagged the final goal of a nine goal salvo as the NI Football League contingent in the Northern Ireland squad signed off a superb year with the victory at Seaview.
Jackie Burns (Glentoran Women), Julie Nelson (Crusaders Strikers), Lauren Wade (Glentoran Women), Marissa Callaghan (Cliftonville Ladies) and Kirsty McGuinness were five starters for Kenny Shiels’ side who ply their trade in the Women’s Premiership.
There were also second half caps as well for Louise McDaniel (Cliftonville Ladies), Caitlin McGuinness (Cliftonville Ladies), Joely Andrews (Glentoran Women) and goalscorer Beattie.
The game marked the final game of the Women’s season, as the Northern Ireland international side look forward to the European Championship finals in 2022 alongside the eagerly anticipated return of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership next spring.
