Wednesday night saw Cliftonville and Linfield secure home wins in the Danske Bank Women's Premiership, as Sion Swifts twice came from behind to draw against Crusaders.
Here is the reaction following on from an action-packed matchday which saw 14 goals fly in across the three matches.
Kirsty McGuinness, Cliftonville
“Glentoran are a great side, they’re the reining champions and when they go 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes, you know you have a lot of work to do.
“But we knew we could dig deep and get a result, thankfully we got a goal back before the break and then we got a deserved rollicking from the coaches at half time.
“We showed in the second half what we were about - we fought until the last minute and managed to get the three points.”
Tasmin McCarter, Sion Swifts
“After the first couple of games that we’ve had it’s been tough, and this game really could have gone either way.
“Everybody fought hard and did their part, there was a lot of grit and determination from all the girls and I think we deserved at least a point.
“All the games have been tight so far and it’s a very competitive league, so we know all teams will go through a rough patch of results so none of us are worried and we are going to keep working hard.”
Julie Nelson, Crusaders
“We know we have a lot of young players in the squad and this season is about blooding more of them into the side.
“This year we are coming up against teams who have internationals throughout their team so we know the challenge that we have and we have to rise to it.”
Phil Lewis, Linfield boss
“I think we need to do better and this is the first time I’ve been disappointed in a couple of years in our performance, but Derry made it very difficult for us.
“They had a really good result last week against Sion and their front two gave us plenty of problems here.
“If we had of taken our chances we would have won by more but we were not clinical enough and I think we were comfortable in the closing stages with what we were doing.
“But Derry gave us a really tough game and they will not be taken lightly the next time we play them.”
