The curtain fell on the 2020/21 Danske Bank Premiership campaign with final day victories for champions Linfield, runners-up Coleraine, third placed Glentoran plus Ballymena United and Warrenpoint Town in Section B while Glenavon booked a place in the European play-offs.

Linfield were presented with the Gibson Cup at the conclusion of their visit to Solitude to face Cliftonville and they marked the occasion with a two-goal victory over the Reds.

Christy Manzinga edged the Blues into the lead just before the break when he pounced on the loose ball from an Andy Waterworth effort that had been saved before Waterworth himself, on his last game for the club, made sure with 11 minutes remaining after connecting with Matthew Clarke's low cross.

Coleraine secured the runners-up spot after coming from behind to defeat Larne at Inver Park. Matthew Lusty fired Larne in front after just nine minutes with 20-yard finish across the face of goal into the bottom corner.

It was a lead they held until early in the second half when James McLaughlin levelled for the Bannsiders before, just short of the hour, Curtis Allen bagged what proved to be the winner when he headed the ball down and into the net from Ben Doherty's perfectly delivered cross.

At The Oval Glentoran needed two second half goals to get the better of a youthful Crusaders side.

The deadlock was broken on 64 minutes when Andy Mitchell's cross from the right reached Ben Cushnie who marked his full debut with an assured header past Neil Shields.

Then, with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, Mitchell made it 2-0 after getting on the end of Keith Cowan's defence splitting ball to poke the finish past the Crues keeper.

In Section B Glenavon got the point they needed to secure seventh place and a berth in next week's European play-offs with a 1-1 draw at home to Dungannon Swifts.

Danny Purkis opened the scoring inside the first 30 seconds but despite Ben Gallagher levelling for the Swifts nine minutes from the break there were no further goals.

Ballymena United, also chasing the play-off spot, needed to beat Portadown and for Glenavon to lose to leapfrog the Lurgan Blues. Despite ultimately missing out, United did make it five wins from five in the split with a 4-2 home defeat of Portadown thanks to goals from Shay McCartan, Trai Hume, Conor Keeley and Ryan Harpur.

Meanwhile, at Milltown, Warrenpoint Town ended the season with a 3-1 defeat of Carrick Rangers with Alan O'Sullivan and Ryan Swan (2) finding the net.
