Linfield clinched a 55th league title - and 25th double - with a draw away to Coleraine in the penultimate round of Premiership games on Tuesday evening. It was also a good night for Glentoran after they secured European football next season.

The Blues went into the game with the Bannsiders, the only other title contenders, knowing that a point would be enough to get them over the line in the title race. They moved in front on the night after 14 minutes through Mark Haughey when he was allowed to connect unmarked with a Millar corner to power home a header.

Coleraine, requiring a win, levelled thanks to Curtis Allen's 36th minute glancing header but they couldn't find a second goal to prevent the Gibson Cup staying with Linfield for a third successive season.

At Inver Park Glentoran edged past Larne by a solitary goal to earn a place in Europe thanks to Conor McMenamin's 47th minute winner after Jay Donnelly got past a defender to supply the vital cross.

The runners-up spot is still up for grabs going into the final game of the season with both the Glens and Coleraine in contention, and with it a place in the Europa League whilst the side finishing third will enter the new UEFA Europa Conference League.

Cliftonville secured fifth spot, and home advantage in the forthcoming European play-offs, following a 1-1 draw at home to Crusaders. Daire O'Connor fired the Reds in front after three minutes, but David Cushley struck deep into stoppage time to level matters.

In Section B, Glenavon came from two goals down to defeat Carrick Rangers at the Loughshore Hotel Arena. Andy Hall bagged a hat-trick, Peter Campbell scored twice with Robert Garrett also getting on the scoresheet to keep the Lurgan Blues in pole position for a European play-off slot.

They are three points ahead of Ballymena United going into the final game. The Sky Blues hit three goals without reply past Warrenpoint Town at The Showgrounds while, at Shamrock Park, Portadown defeated Dungannon Swifts 4-2 thanks to an Adam Salley brace coupled with goals from Lee Bonis and Adam McCallum.
