Sion Swifts star Donna-Kay Henry has been named Women's Player of the Month by NIFWA.
Donna-Kay Henry took a month off work to come and play football in Northern Ireland and marked her short spell at Sion Swifts Ladies with five goals in five games, which was enough to make her the NIFWA Women's Player of the Month for August.
"This is a great honour for me," said Donna, who played her final game for Sion Swifts Ladies against Cliftonville Ladies on Wednesday night and just hours later was on a plane heading back to New York.
"I came in late in the season and it was just a chance for me to play some football and getting wins and being on the scoresheet made it all fantastic.
"Getting this award to mark my time in Northern Ireland means a lot to me.
"I've had a really good time here. I had never been to Ireland before, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the coaching and working with the girls. The coaching was very professional and that is something that I will remember.
"I don't remember if I've had such a good run as five goals in five games before, but it is definitely one of the better periods of my career. I would have enjoyed things just as much if we'd been winning games and I wasn't scoring.
"I have to go back to return to work and I am pleased that I am leaving the team in good position. They still have some tough games left, but hopefully they can go on and win the league."
