Glentoran Women and Sion Swifts Ladies are both vying for the first piece of silverware in the 2019 season when they meet in the Women’s Premiership League Cup final tonight at Seaview (kick-off: 8pm).

The pair have been in great form this season with Glentoran Women winning all but two matches while Sion are on an impressive 10-game unbeaten run across all competitions.

The two cancelled each other out earlier in the campaign at the Melvin Sports Complex in Strabane - late goals from Tyler Toland and Lauren Brennan rescued a point for the hosts after a double from Glens midfielder and Northern Ireland international Demi Vance.

Both sides will be in the hunt for trophies this campaign and are eyeing pushing current champions Linfield to the Premiership title - the Glens trail their city rivals by three points with Sion two points further adrift, in third.

Sion will have to deal with the absences of Claragh Connor and Teegan Lynch, who are both injured, while captain Kendra McMullan in unavailable, with vice-captain Tasmin McCarter now set to lead the team.

However, the County Tyrone side will have goalkeeper Nicole McClure - who appeared in the World Cup for Jamaica earlier this month - available, while another international goalkeeper will be Glentoran’s number one: Emma Higgins, who joined at the start of the season after a spell in Iceland.

The Glens will also have US signings Jessica Davis and Jackie Simpson - the latter brought in from Spanish top- flight club Tenerife - available for the encounter.

Another player to watch for the East Belfast side is striker Rachel Rogan - the Premiership’s first ever NI Football Writers' Player of the Month leads the goalscoring charts in the division with nine league goals to her name this campaign.

Sion’s main goalscoring threat comes from Tyler Toland and Lauren Brennan - who is just one league goal behind Rogan - who both netted in the league draw last month.

Sion eliminated current cup holders Linfield and Cliftonville Ladies on their route to the showpiece, while the Glens dispensed of Comber Rec Ladies and Crusaders Strikers.
