The NI Football League are delighted to announce the return of the successful Bluefin Sport Fair Play Awards this season.
Aimed at promoting fair play and good sportsmanship in the Bluefin Sport Championship and Premier Intermediate League, the award will be for the team in each division with the fewest yellow and red cards over the course of the season.
Launched for the first time in the 2018/2019 season, Larne (Championship) and Queens University (Premier Intermediate League) picked up a ‘double’ winning both their respective leagues and the inaugural Fair Play awards.
Andrew Johnston, NI Football League Managing Director said: “It’s fantastic to be working alongside with our Championship and Premier Intermediate League sponsors, Bluefin Sport, to reward teams for their Fair Play once again.
“We hope the Fair Play awards can reflect the quality of sportsmanship in our leagues and I’d like to thank Bluefin Sport and their continued support which has been invaluable to our clubs on and off the pitch.”
The Bluefin Sport Fair Play Awards will be calculated using a metric of one point per yellow card and three points per red card each club accumulates (for both players and coaches), with updated Fair Play tables published monthly on the NI Football League social media.
The winning clubs from each of the respective divisions will receive a year’s free personal accident insurance for the 2020/2021 season, as well as the stylish Bluefin Sport Fair Play trophy.
