Paul McElroy scored his third goal in as many games as Dungannon Swifts booked a place in the BetMcLean League Cup last eight with this defeat of Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The Swifts might have seized the early advantage when, after eight minutes, Terry Fitzpatrick's downward header was scrambled off the line to safety.
Despite that bright start neither keeper was really troubled for the majority of the first half until Fitzpatrick was later denied by Berraat Türker's outstretched leg before Ryan Harpur headed over from close range on the stroke of half-time.
Moving into the second half Ryan Mayse came close early on with a back post header before Warrenpoint began to assert themselves more.
Alan Davidson twice turned efforts narrowly wide before Josh Lynch saw his shot from outside the area tipped over by Andy Coleman.
Davidson then threatened again while Stephen Murray will feel he should have done better only to fire straight at the 'keeper.
But the goal that settled the game came with nine minutes left after Türker spilled a Thomas Lockhart cross from the left allowing McElroy to pounce after his initial effort had been blocked.
