Ballinamallard United came within ten minutes of knocking Crusaders out of the BetMcLean League Cup at Seaview.

With the game scoreless for over an hour the Mallards, struggling at the foot of the Championship, snatched the lead when a ball into the centre found Michael Glynn who proceeded to get away from Sean Ward and tuck the ball past Harry Doherty at the near post from inside the area.

Rory Patterson twice came close to levelling for the Crues with a couple of efforts in quick succession, one of which struck an upright with the other being well saved by John Connolly.

However, with ten minutes left, Kyle Owens did equalise when he rose higher than Connolly to meet a cross and nod into the unguarded net.

That was how it stayed until stoppage time when Matthew Snoddy ensured victory for the Crues with a lob into the top right corner after spotting Connolly off his line.
