Crusaders avoided an early scare at Seaview to run out comfortable 4-1 winners in the BetMcLean League Cup against PSNI.
It was a shock start for the reigning Premiership champions as Dylan Wilson opened the scoring for PSNI after just seven minutes, as he rounded goalkeeper Harry Doherty to slot home.
With time running out in the first half, Ross Holden found an equaliser for Crusaders as he fired the ball past Tuda Murphy following a goalmouth scramble.
On 57 minutes, captain Colin Coates calmed the nerves of the Seaview faithful by heading his side into the lead following a corner.
With three minutes remaining David Cushley added a third for Crusaders and moments later sealed a safe passage into the next round with his second and Crusaders’ fourth of the evening.
