Gerard McMahon's reign as Lurgan Celtic manager got off to a winning start when his side put Armagh City to the sword at Knockramer Park in this BetMcLean League Cup first round tie.
The game was only four minutes old when Celtic striker David Magee latched onto a through ball and after rounding Armagh keeper Conor Larkin drilled an effort goalwards that was turned into his own net by Caio Ferreita as he attempted to clear the danger.
Celtic doubled their tally early in the second half with Magee going one better this time following good work from Aaron Rogers.
Armagh became slightly disjointed thereafter and were restricted to shots from distance, whilst Celtic grew in confidence and influential midfielder Peter McCann got a third goal when he broke into the box, rounded Larkin and stroked the ball home.
Magee capped an excellent display with his second of the game with a couple of minutes remaining. On this occasion he picked the ball up in centre midfield and as the City defence failed to spot the danger, he advanced in on goal and drilled an effort into the net.
