Skipper Michael McCrudden bagged another two goals as Institute defeated Newry City at The Showgrounds.
James Walker almost handed Newry the early advantage when, after seven minutes, his back post header from Stefan Lavery's corner was cleared by off the line by Dean Curry.
But it was visitors Institute that moved in front five minutes after that. Ronan Wilson got his foot to a stray ball, knocking it on for Michael McCrudden to comfortably divert a finish past Andy Coleman.
Lavery had a chance to level for Newry soon after but his effort from Stephen Hughes' pass failed to trouble Martin Gallagher while Stephen Teggart saw a later header charged down by the visiting keeper.
Gallagher did well again around the half-hour mark to produce a fingertip save to deny Teggart again with a 25-yard drive.
However, Darren Mullen's side fell further behind on 43 minutes when McCrudden scored his second of the game, a penalty to the left of Coleman awarded after Joe McCready had been impeded by Tiarnan Rushe.
Newry pulled a goal back early in the second half when, on 50 minutes, Caoimhin Bonner was adjudged to have blocked a Lavery shot with his arm with Dale Montgomery stepping up to convert from the spot.
'Stute had a chance to kill the game off when McCready floated a cross over from the left for Ronan Wilson to produce a double save from Coleman to deny that and Curry's follow-up.
