Ross Clarke bagged a hat-trick as Ards swept to a comprehensive victory over basement boys Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park.

Clarke opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute when, from a Jonny Frazer cross, he did well to control the ball before beating Richard Brush via a deflection.

Then, with just a quarter-of-an-hour gone, he made it 2-0 with a near post finish after cutting in from the left.

Clarke then turned provider just short of the half-hour mark with an inswinging corner from the left to which Callum Byers was the first to meet with a glancing header to extend the advantage for Colin Nixon's visitors.

And the loan signing from Linfield claimed the match ball on 75 minutes with a low free-kick from out on the right.

Just prior to that Ballinamallard had been reduced to ten men following Ryan O'Reilly's dismissal for a second bookable offence.
