Despite scoring twice before the break Marcio Soares still ended up on the losing side as Portadown fell to defeat in this crucial bottom of the table visit to Carrick Rangers.

The 'Gers moved in front courtesy of a Matt Hazley own goal midway through the first half. Soares levelled soon after but within moments Martin Murray restored Carrick's advantage with a long range finish.

Soares found the net again to ensure the sides went in at half-time on level terms but after T.J. Murray curled home the winner on 72 minutes there was no way back for Niall Currie's side.
