PREVIEW: LARNE v CRUSADERS (LIVE ON SKY SPORTS)

There’s still one more Danske Bank Premiership clash this gameweek as Larne host Crusaders LIVE on Sky Sports (kick-off: 7.45pm)

It’s the latest live broadcast from Sky Sports as the cameras roll into Inver Park for the third occasion of the season having previously enjoyed entertaining encounters at both Glentoran and Carrick Rangers to date.

In a tightly contested Premiership, third placed Crusaders cannot afford to lose any further ground on the front runners Coleraine and Cliftonville – the gap is currently seven points after Saturday’s fixtures and Stephen Baxter will be aware of fourth placed Linfield also plotting their ascent up the table once they fulfil their outstanding fixtures.

Larne are a club rejuvenated in recent years and continue to make life difficult for any team since their promotion as Bluefin Sport Championship winners last season. They start the evening in sixth place in the table.

Recent Form

Larne’s tough induction to the Danske Bank Premiership has meant an inconsistent start to the season but plenty of promising displays heading towards the half-way stage of the campaign. Tiernan Lynch’s men come into this game off the back of a superb 3-0 win against derby rivals Ballymena United at the Showgrounds on Saturday week past.

The Crues come into this game in the middle of an uncharacteristic dip in form, having only won one of their last six games in all competitions. The latest frustration was the 1-1 draw with Institute at Seaview almost ten days ago. Their last win in the league came against Linfield on 4 October – also in front of the live television cameras!

Last meetings

The two sides have already met in the Danske Bank Premiership this season with the Crues coming from behind to earn a point in the 2-2 draw back in August – David Cushley scoring a 78th minute equaliser. That was the first league between the two sides since the 2007/08 season.

Keith Kennedy is the referee for this live game with Stephen Donaldson and Andrew Nethery as assistant referees on the line. Shane Andrews is the fourth official.
