Four of the best young players Danske Bank Premiership started for the Northern Ireland Under-21’s in their friendly victory over Mexico on Monday evening.

Ian Barraclough’s side won their fifth consecutive game, defeating their Central American opponents 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Shayne Lavery at the Estadio Municipal de Marbella.

Declan Dunne (Portadown, on loan from Cliftonville), Chris Gallagher (Glentoran), Kofi Balmer (Ballymena United) and Nathan Kerr (Glentoran) all started for Northern Ireland as they made it two wins from two in the friendlies in preparation for the 2021 Under-21 European Championship qualifiers.

Former Glenavon player Bobby Burns (now at Heart of Midlothian) captained the side.
