NIFWA Chairman Keith Bailie presents Mary Peters with a cheque for £2847 for her Trust

The Northern Ireland Football Writers' Association are delighted to donate the sum of £2847 to the Mary Peters Trust.

Each year, NIFWA makes a donation to their charity of choice. This year, the Mary Peters Trust was the recipient.

The Trust helps to fund young athletes from Northern Ireland as they strive to achieve sporting excellence in their chosen field.

The Olympic Gold medalist said, "We are delighted to receive this cheque from the Football Writers.

"Like ourselves, the Football Writers are members of the sporting family and they understand the difficulties young athletes face in this part of the world. This donation will go along way to helping the next generation of local talent achieve their dreams."

NIFWA Chairman Keith Bailie said, "I'm very proud of our association's annual charitable donation.

"The Mary Peters Trust has helped such stars as Graeme McDowell and Paddy Barnes in the past, so it's nice to play a small part in the Trust's success."
