Glentoran swept to an ultimately comfortable victory over Warrenpoint Town at The Oval thanks to goals from Robbie McDaid and Darren Murray.
The Glens started brightly, crafting early opportunities through Murray's effort wide and Connor Pepper, who was denied by Berraat Turker.
At the other end a cross from the right was just missed by Mark Griffin when a connection would surely have paid dividends.
The deadlock was broken in Glentoran's favour on 26 minutes. A cross was delivered from the left and whilst Marcus Kane's initial effort was blocked McDaid was alert to turn the rebound into the bottom corner.
'Point had another chance with around half-an-hour gone when Deane Watters' free-kick took a deflection off the wall but Dwayne Nelson did well to save to his right.
Glentoran doubled their advantage on 41 minutes. A Luckas Gwiazda header was played back into the box and when McDaid went to meet it he was fouled by high feet with Murray stepping up to convert the subsequent spot-kick to the left.
Warrenpoint had the ball in the net right at the end of the first half but Philip Donnelly's close range tap-in was ruled out offside.
However, it was 3-0 early in the second half with Murray's second of the evening, a lob over Turker after the keeper had come off his line to meet a McDaid ball through the middle of the defence.
The visitors pulled a goal back just after the hour. Griffin drilled a cross over from the left with Kane turning the ball into his own net whilst under pressure from Donnelly.
But if 'Point thought this would spark a revival they were dealt a blow soon after when Lee Duffy was dismissed for collecting his second caution of the game.
