Andrew Mooney struck in either half to hand Carrick Rangers victory from this Friday night clash with Ballinamallard United.

Carrick started brightly, coming close after ten minutes when Lee Chapman played Aaron Smyth through only for Richard Brush to get down well to save.

Mooney was then denied in similar circumstances soon after while Ben Roy also had two efforts on goal.

But Rangers deservedly moved in front on 37 minutes when Mooney spotted Brush off his line and duly chipped him from fully 25 yards.

And Mooney made it 2-0 on 65 minutes after beating Ryan McConnell down the left before sending the ball over the 'keeper.

Denver Gage almost added a third late in the game, coming close with a header, while the Mallards were denied a late consolation when Ryan Curran failed to convert from the spot in stoppage time.
