Jamie McGonigle claimed the match ball with a hat-trick as Coleraine defeated Crusaders at The Showgrounds.

The 23-year-old broke the deadlock on 26 minutes after chesting the ball over the line from Jamie Glackin's chip into the box.

He made it 2-0 seven minutes later, turning a low drive past Harry Doherty after James McLaughlin found him with a superbly delivered cross field pass.

Crusaders pulled one back six minutes from the break. Jordan Forsythe created the opening with a clever run which ended with Michael Ruddy doing well to control the ball and finish beyond Chris Johns.

The Bannsiders restored their two-goal cushion just before the hour when Jamie Glackin got the final touch to Cormac Burke's rifled shot from distance but, three minutes after that, the Crues reduced the deficit again courtesy of David Cushley's spot-kick awarded after Ben Doherty had fouled Paul Heatley.

But McGonigle wrapped things up not long after with a fantastic 30-yard free-kick which bounced just in front of Doherty on its way into the net.
