Michael McCrudden (59)

A moment of brilliance from Michael McCrudden was enough to earn Institute all three Danske Bank Premiership points on their travels to Warrenpoint Town.

Chances were few and far between at the Q Radio Arena in the first half, as it remained scoreless going into the break.

Institute captain Michael McCrudden scored the only goal of the game on 59 minutes in stunning fashion. He collected the ball on the edge of the Warrenpoint penalty area and unleashed an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner, which left Aaron McCarey grasping thin air.

Following the restart, the difficulty of home side’s task soon increased as Ciaran O’Connor was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on goalscorer, McCrudden – reducing Warrenpoint Town to ten men for the final half hour.

Substitute Philip Donnelly spurned Warrenpoint’s best chance of an equaliser, lashing the ball well over the bar from 12 yards after Francis McCaffrey had found him in space.
