Newry City picked up their first away win of the season with a Friday night defeat of Coleraine in front of the BBC Two NI cameras.
Darren McCauley crafted the first effort of note on 13 minutes after a quiet opening to the game when he stung the palms of Steven Maguire with a shot from just outside the area.
Enjoying more possession, the Bannsiders threatened again on 24 minutes after Josh Carson worked the ball in from the right before laying it off for Ciaron Harkin but his attempt was comfortably dealt with.
Then, not long after, Maguire did well to react quickly to smother the danger after Aaron Burns tried to get on the end of a poked ball six yards out.
The Bannsiders continued to press on the half-hour after Carson whipped in a corner from the right to which Gareth McConaghie got his head to only for Stephen Hughes to clear off the line at the left post.
However, Newry went ahead very much against the run of play ten minutes from the break when Mark McCabe got on the end of a Darren King ball played down the middle to guide a lobbed effort over the head of Chris Johns from around 20 yards.
Despite a bright start to the second half the Bannsiders could easily have fallen further behind just before the hour when Newry's Declan Carville had a go from distance with his left foot only for the ball to drop just wide.
Coleraine's possession might have paid dividends not long after through a firmly struck right foot Carson effort which Maguire saved well before McCauley also had a go.
At the other end, with ten minutes left, Newry were presented with a great opportunity to double their lead after Dale Montgomery had clipped the ball forward but the Stephen Hughes' shot was parried by Johns only as far as McCabe whose follow-up was blocked.
