Coleraine have parted company with manager Rodney McAree after just nine months in charge at the Showgrounds.

The former Dungannon Swifts boss was appointed in September 2018, following the departure of Oran Kearney to St. Mirren. McAree had led the Swifts to the BetMcLean League Cup just seven months previously and inherited a team that had finished second in the Danske Bank Premiership and were Irish Cup winners in 2018.

The Bannsiders exited the Europa League Playoffs with defeat to Cliftonville on Tuesday evening, having finished sixth in the Premiership table this season.

A statement on the Coleraine official club website read; β€˜The Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks to Rod for the efforts and commitment he has made since his appointment and wish him well for the future.’

β€˜The club will now begin the process of recruiting a new manager. No further comment will be made at this time. A further statement will follow in due course.’
