BALLINAMALLARD United continued their remarkable start to the season with this two-goal defeat of Portadown at Ferney Park.

The first effort of note came on eight minutes through Chris Curran but his free-kick was blocked in the goalmouth.

For the Ports, Chris Casement created their best moment of the opening exchanges when he forced Alvin Rouse into a save.

Perhaps the pivotal moment of a half of few chances came two minutes from the break when the Ports had penalty claims waved away by referee Mervyn Smyth.

The second half was equally quiet in front of goal until the 71st minute when Ryan Campbell pounced to knock home the opener after David Miskelly could only parry a Jason McCartney cross.

And two minutes later Curran doubled Ballinamallard's advantage after Andy Crawford had found him down the right before firing across Miskelly and into the opposite corner.
