Mallards boss Whitey Anderson can't hide his delight at Solitude (Picture: Jonathan Porter/

BALLINAMALLARD United continued to take the Danske Bank Premiership by surprise with this victory over Cliftonville at Solitude.

After a somewhat lukewarm opening period the Reds might have taken the lead just before the half-hour mark.

An Eamon Seydak from some 25-yards took a deflection but United 'keeper Alvin Rouse was alert enough to flick it over for a corner.

Then, from that set piece, the ball eventually found Stephen Garrett who, from ten yards, blasted it off the crossbar.

Visitors Ballinamallard might twice have opened the scoring early in the second half when first Chris Curran and then Ryan Campbell both hit the crossbar.

The Reds then could have snatched the lead themselves after a Rouse mistake allowed Garrett to lob from distance only for the ball to drift wide.

But the real drama was left until the first minute of stoppage time when Liam Martin came in from the left to lay the ball off for Jason McCartney to score in off an upright to snatch a famous victory.
