A goal in each half helped Glentoran move into third spot thanks to a narrow win over Institute at The Oval.
Ross Redman opened the scoring for the Glens after 13 minutes when, following a goalmouth scramble, he touched home from close range after Peter McMahon had knocked on a Curtis Allen ball across the face of goal.
Marcus Kane had the ball in the net just before the half-hour mark after getting on the end of a great pass but his 'goal' was ruled out for handball.
Institute levelled soon after through leading scorer Michael McCrudden with a volley from close range before, not much later, Jamie McIntyre might have added a second after evading four players only for William Garrett to intervene with a timely tackle.
Glentoran almost went in at the break on top when Allen saw a lobbed effort come back off the crossbar.
But, three minutes into the second half, the Glens did move back in front when Allen's initial effort was knocked back into play by Kane for Garrett to nod past Martin Gallagher.
McMahon then came inches away from extending Glentoran's lead just before the hour with a well struck drive from outside the box which sailed just inches away.
Institute pushed for the equaliser with Elliott Morris pulling off a great save midway through the second half while Stephen and Dean Curry had efforts as time ticked away.
