Glenavon gave their hopes of European football a huge boost with this five-goal thumping of Cliftonville at Mourneview Park.

Gary Hamilton's side joined the Reds, still in third, on 60 points, sitting just behind Tommy Breslin's charges on goal difference.

Kevin Braniff fired them in front on 12 minutes with a header from Rhys Marshall's cross.

That was how it stayed until five minutes after the break when Branif doubled his account with a low right-foot finish beyond Peter Cherrie after getting past defender Marc Smyth.

Eoin Bradley added a third just after the hour when he beat Cherrie to a ball played into the box.

David Elebert continued the scoring eight minutes after that with a drilled effort before, with three minutes remaining, Mark Patton completed the rout with a close range finish.
