Crusaders stretched their lead at the top of the table to five points following victory over Glentoran at The Oval.

Colin Coates opened the scoring for the Crues after just five minutes when Jordan Forsythe picked him out on the edge of the six-yard box.

Then, just over ten minutes later, Gavin Whyte saw an effort blocked by Dwayne Nelson while Jordan Owens was unable to keep the rebound on target.

Paul Heatley then had a chance on 24 minutes. He did well to control the ball inside the box but Nelson did equally well to make the save.

But Glentoran went in at the break on level terms when Jonathan Smith knocked home the follow up after a Chris Lavery shot had come off the base of an upright.

However, Crusaders made sure of the points with two goals in quick succession midway through the second half.

On 66 minutes, Owens restored their lead with a back post header in off the post after Michael Carvill had supplied the cross.

Then, three minutes after that, Declan Caddell scored in similar fashion, this time from a Heatley delivery.
