Crusaders moved to within touching distance of retaining the Gibson Cup thanks to Jordan Owens' 56th minute winner at Mourneview Park.
Glenavon had a great chance to go in front as early as the fourth minute when Andy Hall slipped the ball off for Eoin Bradley who was thwarted by a great stop from 'keeper Sean O'Neill.
Owens had a chance just after a quarter-of-an-hour had elapsed only to turn the ball over from inside the box.
But Glenavon had the better efforts in the first half with Bradley going close again around the half-hour mark while Kevin Braniff had a later shot blocked.
Despite this, the Crues moved in front early in the second half after Owens fired a bullet header past Johnny Tuffey from a Gavin Whyte free-kick.
And Owens might have doubled his tally as the game moved into the final ten minutes only to rattle an upright while Tuffey was called into action to deal with a thumping Whyte effort.
Braniff almost levelled for Glenavon with four minutes remaining only to be denied at the last moment by the unsighted Sean O'Neill who kept out his strong effort from the edge of the area.
Declan O'Brien came even closer in stoppage time only to head wide after Braniff had done well to get the ball into the box.
