BALMER CAPTAINS NI UNDER-21’s TO FRIENDLY WIN

Ballymena United defender Kofi Balmer captained the Northern Ireland Under-21 side which included three other Danske Bank Premiership stars to victory today over Bulgaria.

Ian Barraclough’s young side kicked-off their two game visit to Spain with a 1-0 victory over Bulgaria Under-21’s thanks to a goal from Shayne Lavery.

Nathan Kerr (Glentoran), Kyle McClean (Linfield) and Chris Gallagher (Glentoran) all started alongside Balmer in winning caps for the Northern Ireland Under-21 side. Portadown goalkeeper Declan Dunne was named amongst the substitutes.

Northern Ireland Under-21’s are next in action against Mexico Under-21’s on Monday evening.
