ADAMSON DOUBLES UP AS MALLARDS SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

CRUSADERS came from behind to inflict a first Danske Bank Premiership defeat upon new boys Ballinamallard United at Seaview.

Gary McCutcheon almost opened the scoring for the Crues as early as the fifth minute with a thumping shot against the bar from an acute angle.

And the Scot came close again three minutes later with a left-footed free-kick from some 25-yards which, like his earlier effort, smashed against the woodwork.

Timmy Adamson also saw a shot from a David McMaster cross cleared off the line by David Kee.

But, on 21 minutes, the visitors grabbed an unexpected lead when, from a corner, Mark Stafford did enough to bundle the ballover the line.

However, Crusaders levelled with ten minutes of the first half remaining when, from a David Gibson cross, Timmy Adamson nipped in to slip the ball past Alvin Rouse.

The Crues then edged in front four minutes into the second half with Adamson's second of the game, a backpost downward header from a McCutcheon cross.

Indeed, Adamson might have helped himself to the match ball with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining only to be denied by a Danny Keohane clearance off the line.
