EARLY GOAL ENOUGH FOR MALLARDS
An early goal proved enough for Ballinamallard United to get the better of Ards at Clandeboye Park.
What proved to be the only goal of the game arrived after just nine minutes on the counter attack after Ards lost possession despite being on the offensive with Daniel Barker running clear to make no mistake with his finish past Alex Moore.
Ards might have levelled on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a Michael Ruddy header from Conor Scannell's corner only for Joel Little to make a superb instinctive save.
The home side continued to search for the equaliser after the break with Eamon Scannell being denied by a goalline clearance while Lee Newell was later thwarted by a diversion for a corner.
Then, later in the game, Patrick Cafolla forced his way through the defence but was unfortunate as his header spun over the top.
