SPIKE DOUBLE HELPS SEASIDERS TO FIRST WIN
Bangor picked up their first win of the campaign with a four-goal defeat of Newington at Clandeboye Park.
The visitors almost raced into an early lead when, after three minutes, Kyle Owens was adjudged to have handled in the area but Darren Murray could only send the subsequent spot-kick wide of the target.
However the deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Ben Arthurs nodded the ball into the box for Matthew Ferguson to hold off the attention of a couple of defenders to fire past keeper Dean Smyth.
Newington were reduced to ten men on 66 minutes when Joshua Diver was shown a straight red card for a challenge from behind on Tiarnan Mulvenna.
And Bangor made their extra man count with nine minutes remaining when Ferguson doubled his tally for the evening with a finish through a crowded box.
Ben Cushnie added number three a few minutes after that with a nodded finish into an empty net after Ben Walker had lifted the ball over the keeper.
Then, in stoppage time, Tom Mathieson hit a fourth for the Seasiders when he reacted quickest after Smyth failed to hold onto the box.
