DRAW ENOUGH AS PORTS CLINCH TITLE
Portadown clinched the Playr-Fit Championship title following this draw with Dundela at Shamrock Park.
The Ports needed a win going into the game to make sure of top spot regardless of events elsewhere, but with the Institute-Bangor also ending in stalemate it meant Niall Currie's side had done enough to claim the championship and an immediate return to the top flight.
Scoreless at the break, both sides had their chances in the first half with Jordan Jenkins seeing an effort blocked by Brandon Diau while Ryan Mayse sent a shot just wide for the Ports.
Mark Patton then came close later in the half with a well taken free-kick that keeper Gareth Buchanan did well to turn away for a corner.
The Duns threatened again early in the second half after Jenkins combined with David McMaster but he couldn't keep his effort on target before, at the other end, keeper Lewis Hunter pushed another Mayse attempt over the top.
Hunter then denied Eamonn Fyfe and Diau in quick succession but, on 66 minutes, the Ports finally made the breakthrough when Mayse fired into the bottom corner.
It proved to be only a short lived lead, however, when Jenkins levelled for the visitors ten minutes after that from close range.
And the visitors almost snatched it late on after Lee Rea had a go from the edge of the area only for his shot to come smashing back off the upright.
