PORTS WITHIN TOUCHING DISTANCE
Portadown are just one win away from clinching the Playr-Fit Championship title following victory over HW Welders at Shamrock Park.
The Welders started brightly with both David Parkhouse and Ewan McCoubrey hitting the woodwork early on but it was the Ports that went ahead with around a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock after Eamon Fyfe got past James McCarthy and keeper Jack Mills before slotting home from around six yards out.
That was how it stayed until the 59th minute when Ryan Mayse doubled the home advantage with a low driven shot into the corner.
The visitors pulled one back on 72 minutes courtesy of a Michael McLellan's spot-kick but Paul McElroy restored Portadown's two-goal cushion deep into stoppage time.
