FIVE STAR PORTS HOLD OFF WELDERS CHALLENGE
Portadown withstood an attempted HW Welders fightback to eventually run out 5-2 winners at Shamrock Park.
Cruising at the break through goals from Paul McElroy, Christopher Rodgers and Ryan Mayse, the Ports were almost pegged back midway through the second half when Matthew Ferguson hit a quick fire double for the Welders.
But a Mayse spot-kick with just under a quarter-of-an-hour to go, followed by a Caolin Coyle finish right at the end saw the Ports win through to claim the points.
