PORTS TOO STRONG FOR MALLARDS
A goal at either end of the second half saw Portadown defeat Ballinamallard United at Shamrock Park.
Scoreless at the break, the Mallards came closest around the half-hour mark when Alex Holder beat keeper Glenn Buchanan only to rattle his effort against the crossbar.
The Ports moved in front around 40 seconds after the interval following Ryan Mayse's long punt forward for Kenny Kane to run onto, hold off the attentions of defender Peter Maguire and fire past Jack Le-moignan from inside the area.
And that was how it stayed until the fourth minute of stoppage time when Mayse got on the end of a ball over the top to beat the offside trap and finish from the edge of the area.
