HAT-TRICK FOR FERGUSON AS WELDERS STORM BACK
Matthew Ferguson bagged a hat-trick as HW Welders came storming back from three goals down to defeat Newington at the Blanchflower Stadium.
The visitors raced into a commanding lead with just over half-an-hour on the clock.
Patrick Downey opened the scoring on 11 minutes from six yards, before Darren Stuart doubled up a few minutes after that. Stuart then knocked home his second of the afternoon with a great strike from just inside the area.
The Welders revival started a couple of minutes from the break with Ferguson's first of the game before, in stoppage time, Kyle Owens headed home from a corner to further reduce the deficit.
James McClay levelled for the Welders early in the second half with a superb strike from distance with Ferguson then edged them in front sixty seconds after that at the near post.
And Ferguson laid claim to the match ball with his third with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining and while Padraig Slane did pull one back for the Swans with nine minutes left it wasn't enough to kick start what would have been a breathless finale.
