Michael Morgan bagged the only goal of the game as Newington defeated HW Welders at the Blanchflower Stadium.
He struck after just ten minutes with a great curling effort from outside the box to beat keeper Sam Johnston.
He might have doubled up just before the break when through on goal only to fire high and wide.
The Welders could have levelled early in the second half but Michael McLellan's header from a left-sided cross fell just wide of the target.
