QUEEN'S RELEGATED FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Queen's University lost 3-2 at home to Ards and with it their place in the Lough 41 Championship.
The Students knew they needed to win and see Knockbreda lose away to Institute to stand any chance of avoiding the automatic drop.
They got off to a great start as early as the 14th minute when Tamer Atrach opened the scoring with an overhead kick but Ards levelled just four minutes later through Jay Boyd.
However, Lorcan McIlroy restored home advantage just after the half-hour mark and with 'Breda behind at the Brandywell it looked like Queen's might just live to fight another day.
But things turned with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Eamon Scannell scored a stunning equaliser to make it 2-2, and it got even worse a few minutes after that when Calvin McCurry headed home what proved to be Ards' winner thus condemning Queen's to the drop.
