LAST GASP DERGVIEW SECURE TOP SIX SPOT
A stoppage time winner earned Dergview a top six spot with victory over Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park.
Tommy Canning's side went into the game two points adrift of Ards in seventh spot so knew only a win would be enough to secure a post-split top six place.
In what was an evenly fought encounter Ballinamallard led at the break thanks to BJ Banda's cracking volley just before the half-hour mark.
Dergview were given an opportunity to level on 50 minutes but Matthew Kirk could only look on as Rory Brown saved his penalty.
However, the visitors did equalise just six minutes after that through Jamie Browne who beat the offside trap to finish past the Mallards keeper.
Ballinamallard might have restored their advantage with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Banda fired over following good work by Reece Byrne, before later penalty appeals were dismissed by the officials after Ryan Morrow had been brought down.
With news filtering through the Ards had lost heavily away to HW Welders the impetus was on Dergview to find a winner, and they duly did so in the first minute of added time when Matthew Buchanan found the net to secure sixth spot.
