McALEER AND FERRIS HELP VILLAGERS TO IMPORTANT WIN
Loughgall picked up an important three points with a two-goal defeat of fellow promotion hopefuls Ballinamallard United at Lakeview Park.
The Villagers might have gone in front after just two minutes when Nathaniel Ferris was denied from the spot by Mallards keeper Rory Brown while the follow up was rattled off the bar.
Ballinamallard's best chance came around the half-hour mark but Callum Moorehead's effort was headed over.
The deadlock was broken a couple of minutes from the break when, from another penalty, Caolan McAleer got the ball past Brown despite the visiting keeper getting his hand to it.
Sean McEvoy might have pulled one back on the hour but he was denied by Jamie Rea while, a little later, the Villagers' keeper managed to gather the ball following a mix-up in defence.
However, Loughgall made sure of the points when Ferris redeemed himself right at the end of normal time.
