NEWRY HIT FIVE TO RETURN TO THE TOP
Newry City stormed back to the top of the Lough 41 Championship with a thumping 5-1 defeat of Knockbreda at The Showgrounds.
However, Darren Mullen's side had to come from behind to secure the points after Dylan Sloan's 20th minute free-kick was knocked on for Karl Hamill to fire home from the left side of the area.
Newry levelled just over a quarter-of-an-hour later through John McGovern who ran onto a through to take the ball past a couple of defenders before slotting beyond keeper Lewis Deane from around 12 yards out.
The home side then edged into the lead in first half stoppage time when Lorcan Forde sent a looping effort over Deane from the edge of the area.
Stephen Moan added a third for Newry just before the hour when his low finish from around 25 yards slipped through the legs of the visiting keeper.
James Teelan made it 4-1 on 73 minutes when his right-footed strike from the left side of the area went in off the far post.
Then, with a couple of minutes remaining, teenage substitute Peadar McParland - only on the pitch less than sixty seconds - marked his first team debut with a superb dinked finish from the edge of the area after receiving the ball from Fra Brennan.
