MALLARDS EDGE OUT ARDS AT FERNEY PARK
Ballinamallard United defeated Ards by the odd goal in three to remain amongst the pack jostling for position for a play-off spot at the top of the Lough 41 Championship.
Both sides had opportunities during an open first half but it took until the 43rd minute for the deadlock to be broken when Patrick Ferry edged the Mallards in front when he raced onto a Richard Clarke punt forward to get past both Sam Dinu and keeper Jack Lemoignan and fire into an unguarded net.
The Mallards doubled their advantage with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after Joshua McIlwaine cut the ball back inside the area for Sean McEvoy to pull the trigger and fire past the visiting keeper.
Ards grabbed a stoppage time consolation when Ben McCann sent a diving header into his own net whilst attempting to clear a Salou Jallow cross from the right.
