HOME COMFORT RETURNS FOR THE WELDERS
HW Welders picked up their first home win in four outings with victory over Institute at the Blanchflower Stadium.
However it was the visitors that drew first blood when, on 27 minutes, Brendan McLaughlin converted from the spot after James McCarthy was adjudged to have brought down Caolan McLaughlin just inside the area.
But the Welders responded positively to level just eight minutes later through Callum Byers who bundled the ball over the line after Scott McMillan had glanced on David Graham's corner from the left.
And the home side seized the advantage themselves early in the second half when Michael McLellan's effort from just outside the area took a massive deflection off Conor Quigley to wrong foot keeper John Connolly.
'Stute might have levelled later in the game through substitute Jake Morrow but his free-kick from around 25 yards crashed back off the crossbar before being cleared by the Welders defence.
